Woman dies following garbage truck rollover

A driver has died after a garbage truck left the roadway and rolled onto its roof on Tuesday (12 December).

Police said the garbage truck was travelling west on Ferndale Road, about 65 km northwest of Albury and three kilometres west of Mile Road, at about 12:45 pm when it left the roadway and rolled onto its roof.

The female driver, believed to be in her 50s, was trapped inside the vehicle when emergency services arrived.

She was freed from the cabin but pronounced deceased at the scene. She is yet to be formally identified.

Officers from the Murray River Police District attended and established a crime scene.

A report will be prepared for the coroner, and Safe Work NSW has been notified.
