Truck driver dead following head-on collision on Sturt Highway

A 48-year-old man has died following a two-truck crash south of Griffith.

Police said emergency services responded to reports of a crash on the Sturt Highway, near Kidman Way, Darlington Point, at about 10:30 pm on Friday (1 December).

Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District attended and found two trucks had collided head-on with the drivers of both vehicles trapped.

Police rendered assistance to a 48-year-old man until NSW Ambulance paramedics attended, but he died at the scene.

A 28-year-old man was treated at the scene before being taken to Griffith Base Hospital in a stable condition.

Police established a crime scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.

As inquiries continue, anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam vision is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report crime via NSW Police social media pages.
