Man dies following two-truck collision on Hume Highway

A man has died after two B-Double trucks collided on the Hume Highway.

Police said emergency services were called to the Hume Highway near Little Billabong Road, Little Billabong, north of Holbrook, following reports that two B-Double trucks had collided at about 5:56 pm yesterday (May 23).

The 61-year-old male driver of one of the trucks died at the scene, while the other driver, 44, was not injured in the crash and was taken to Culcairn Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District established a crime scene, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.

All southbound lanes of the Hume Highway were closed on the approach to Little Billabong Road, Little Billabong.

Diversions were put in place through Tumbaruma Road and Little Billabong Road to join the Hume Highway.

Motorists were urged to avoid the area and allow extra travel time, but the diversions lifted around 7:50 am this morning (24 May) and normal traffic has resumed.
