Woman charged over single-vehicle crash which killed passenger

A Canberra woman has been charged with negligent driving occasioning death over a fatal crash in the Riverina last month.

Emergency services had been called to the Sturt Highway near Darlington Point, about 40 km south of Griffith, to reports of a single-vehicle crash at about 1:30 pm on Sunday (16 July).

When police officers arrived they found the passenger of the crashed Toyota Hilux – a 58-year-old man – had died at the scene.

A 54-year-old woman, who had been driving, was treated at the scene by paramedics and then was taken to Griffith Base Hospital with minor injuries.

The woman, from the Canberra suburb of Aranda, has now been issued with a Future Court Attendance Notice for negligent driving occasioning death following extensive investigations.

She’s due to appear in Griffith Local Court on Wednesday, 20 September.
