Woman dies following crash near Griffith

A 76-year-old woman has died following a two-vehicle crash near Griffith over the weekend.

Police said emergency services were called to Boorga Road at Lake Wyangan following reports of a crash at about 12:40 pm on Saturday (22 July).

Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District arrived to find a Toyota hatchback and Nissan ute had collided.

Police said the driver of the Toyota was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Griffith Base Hospital where she died.

The driver of the Nissan, a 33-year-old man, was treated for minor injuries and taken to the same hospital for mandatory testing.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

Any witnesses to the collision, including motorists with dashcam footage are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
