A driver was caught speeding at 175 km/h on the Hume Highway and watching YouTube videos on her phone mounted below the rearview mirror.

Officers attached to Riverina Highway Patrol were conducting stationary speed enforcement when they saw the red Kia Picanto speeding 65 km/h over the 110 km/h speed limit at Mount Adrah around 11:57 am on 6 September.

Police checked the vehicle’s speed at 175 km/h per hour.

When police approached the driver, they noticed she had her mobile phone mounted below the rearview mirror playing music video clips from YouTube.

Police said the driver paused the phone so the officers could talk to her.

The woman was fined for exceeding the speed limit of over 45 km/h and using her phone when not permitted.

The driver’s licence was suspended immediately for six months.
