WDF Accounting + Advisory was the big winner at the 2023 Golden Crow Awards on Friday night (11 August), taking home three gongs on the night.

Fifteen awards were handed out at the ceremony, ranging from outstanding business leaders to excellence in small/large business.

WDF scooped the Outstanding Employee Award, given to business manager Annette Davies, as well as the Employer of Choice nod, and the top award of the night, The Golden Crow.

Ms Davies said the staff of WDF were surprised but overjoyed to have been honoured with Wagga’s top business award, believing it displayed the hard work and community involvement of the firm.

“It was definitely a big surprise on the night,” she said.

“There’s a lot of people who have worked at the business for a number of years. I know for them it was a really proud moment for a lot of hard work.”

WDF was named Employer of Choice over three other nominees.

“We do put a lot of effort in making sure our workplace culture is something that every employee can feel proud of,” Ms Davies said.

“We always say we want people to come to work and give 100 per cent.

“Being able to do that creates a great place we all enjoy. We all work here a lot of hours of the day, and we want to make sure it’s a good place to be for each worker during that time.”

On her Outstanding Employee Award, Ms Davies said it was a lovely feeling to have won, but admitted to being a little embarrassed.

“It was lovely to hear my name called out and it is really great recognition but also a bit embarrassing to walk up in front of everyone.”

Ms Davies’ directors suggested she apply for the award, but she said she never thought she’d win.

“It was all really exciting. It was a great night and everyone was in great spirits while also being supportive of all our local business, which is ultimately what the night was all about.”
