There’s so much to see and do in the coming week in the Riverina region, so check out our list of all the best events and get amongst it. Don’t let the colder days discourage you.

With tribute performances to one of the best bands of all time, artistic workshops with a natural touch, stand-up shows with nationally touring stars, free orchestral concerts with local musicians and much more, there’s plenty to keep you entertained.

Echoes of Pink Floyd

Celebrate each era of Pink Floyd’s historic contribution to music with Adelaide-based tribute band Echoes of Pink Floyd as they take audiences on a journey through 60 years of the English rock group’s legacy.

Covering everything from progressive rock to psychedelic masterpieces and big-sound anthems, this show captures and recreates the essence and energy of one of the most iconic musical projects of the past century.

Echoes of Pink Floyd have been paying tribute to the original band since 2009 and touring their act nationally since 2014, captivating audiences nationwide.

Eco Printmaking at Unique State Artist Studio

Are you a printmaking pro looking to incorporate something new into your work? Maybe you’re a novice just learning about the possibilities in the field. Either way, this workshop is for you. It’s all about learning how to create prints from foliage and natural dyes, adding an entirely new dimension to the craft.

Participants will find out how materials from the natural world can create incredible results. If you take inspiration from nature, this is a great way to make it the very fabric of what you create.

Ladies Day at the Murrumbidgee Turf Club

Cost: Free entry for women.

Get together with local ladies at the Murrumbidgee Turf Club for a day of entertainment, drinks, fine food, glamour and community on the green. This event brings together women of all ages at the turf club to enjoy each other’s company.

It’s set to be a great day, with the Ladies Day Cup Sweep, Fashions on the Field, a dancefloor and a prize giveaway.

Family Fun Day – Wagga Christian College

Wagga Wagga Christian College is set to play host to a great afternoon of family fun with plenty of attractions for both young and old to get excited about.

With a stacked schedule of amusement and pony rides, food vans serving up delicious freshly made food, stalls selling all sorts, live local entertainment, picnic games for all ages and a silent auction with heaps of amazing prizes, it’s tipped to be a memorable day.

It’s an ideal chance to get out in the community on Saturday, let loose and have some fun.

Coming to Albury as part of their live national sellout tour, this duo is known for their rock-solid vocals and energetic stage presence. Breathing new life into classics, they take audiences on a musical journey through some of the most memorable hits from John and Michael.

RCM Lunchtime Concert Series No.6: Beethoven and Enescu

When: 29 May, 1 pm to 2 pm
Where: Riverina Conservatorium of Music, No.1 Simmons Street, Wagga Wagga
Cost: Free.

Riverina Conservatorium of Music talents Lauren Davis (violin) and Hamish Tait (piano) are continuing their endeavour of performing the complete cycle of Beethoven’s violin and piano sonatas, currently playing Sonata No. 6 in A Major, Op. 30. This special free concert open to the public also features the Romanian composer George Enescu and his Sonata No. 1 in D Major, Op. 2.

It’s a great opportunity to see local musicians performing technically difficult music with the passion and enthusiasm that the two composers demand. Classical music hardliners and newcomers will both rejoice in this concert.

The Limestone Road with Nicole Alexander

Cost: Free.

Prolific author, travel writer and poet Nicole Alexander will give a special talk about her latest novel, The Limestone Road, this Thursday. The captivating story of The Limestone Road begins in the summer of 1944 when soldiers Canning Christie and his father, Michael, return from combat in North Africa.

Both men deal with the trauma of war in the African theatre in different ways as they attempt to adjust to a normal life once again.

Don’t miss this chance for a real insight into an emotive and personal investigation into how war affects soldiers upon return.
