A 41-year-old man has been charged after police seized almost $1 million in cash during a traffic stop on the Hume Highway.
Officers attached to Cootamundra Traffic and Highway Patrol stopped a silver Kia Carnival travelling on the Hume Highway at Coolac for a random breath test around 11 am on Tuesday (27 June).
Police said they spoke with the driver and the sole occupant of the vehicle before seizing a mobile phone, documentation and $980,545 in cash concealed in shopping bags.
Police said the seized items would undergo further examination.
The Greenacre man was taken to Cootamundra Police Station and charged with recklessly dealing with proceeds of crime greater than $5000 and dealing with property proceeds of crime equal to or greater than $100,000.
The accused was granted conditional bail to appear before Gundagai Local Court on Friday 18 August.
