Only a month to go until Christmas and there’s plenty to see and do around the Riverina.

You can get a head start on the Christmas parties, pick up a fantastic collection of gifts at the markets or chill out and enjoy a movie or a show.

But whatever you do this Christmas – share the love and get behind local businesses and support local producers and creatives.

Seriously Red promises a saucy caper following the exploits of a real estate agent who throws it all in to become a Dolly Parton impersonator.

The Menu boasts an all-star cast including the so-hot-right-now Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult. The pair play a couple on a journey to an exclusive restaurant and serve up some shocking surprises.

And new this week for the kids, the Disney animation Strange World heads deep into an uncharted and treacherous land packed with fantastical creatures.

A summer’s day in 1900, a school excursion to Hanging Rock, white dresses and straw hats in the sun. Three students and a teacher take a walk and are never seen again…

If the movie spooked you back in the day, you can relive the mystery with Freeroam Theatre’s production of the Australian classic Picnic at Hanging Rock at the Riverina Playhouse.

Wagga Stamp and Coin Fair

When: Saturday 26 November 9 am – 5 pm and Sunday 27 November 9 am – 3 pm
Where: Sturt Public School Hall, White Avenue, Kooringal
Cost: Adults $2, under 16s free, payable upon entry.

The Wagga Stamp and Coin Club will be hosting a fair with dealers coming in from Melbourne, Beechworth, Yass, Orange, Canberra and Sydney.

These events are held every six months and provide an excellent opportunity for collectors to find something special or the curious to find a new hobby.

The Farewell to Rose Quartz, Birthday Bash and Drag Show

The Queen of Wagga, Rose Quartz, is moving to Melbourne and the Curious Rabbit plans to send her off with a bang.

While a lady never tells her age, we hear Rose’s alter ego Dwayne is turning 30.

Frock up or frock down for both a party and a show celebrating Rose and Dwayne’s pioneering role in the regional drag scene.

CSU’s Booranga Writers’ Centre will launch the latest edition of its long-running fourW thirty-three: New Writing anthology at the Wagga Art Gallery, showcasing a collection of new poetry and prose from Australian and international writers.

The winners of the 2022 Booranga Prize for writing will also be announced.

Markets by the Lake

With Christmas now just a month away, the Markets by the Lake will offer a great day out and the chance to pick up unique, local gifts.

The BBQ will be fired up and money raised will go to Can Assist.

There will be free drinks for the kids and even in the rain, they’ll be screening something indoors.
