There’s plenty to do around the region this week, especially if you love animals. Birdland at Batemans Bay is celebrating its 50th year and Mogo Wildlife Park is holding its third community day.
The annual Yass Picnic Races are also back this weekend for their 121st year at the Marchmont racecourse, there’s a colour run in Moruya, a multicultural festival is being held in Queanbeyan and there’s a great musical at the Q Theatre.

This weekend, the Moruya Golf Cub will be holding the Tuross and Moruya Marine Rescue Charity Golf and Dinner fundraiser. Go along for a day filled with golf from 1 pm, including a barbecue lunch and free golf lessons throughout the day, and then end the night with a two-course dinner with raffles, auctions and prizes to be won from 6 pm.

Mogo Wildlife Park is holding its third annual Mogo Wildlife Park Community Day this Saturday to mark two years since its official reopening in late February 2020 after the black Summer bushfires. The fun family day will have something enjoyable for everyone, combining a day of visiting the unique wildlife at Mogo Zoo with a barbecue and lots of activities to bring the community together.

After being cancelled in 2021 due to COVID, the annual Yass Picnic Races are back for their 121st year this weekend at the Marchmont racecourse. It will be a fun day for the whole family with kids jumping castles, ice cream and horse racing. Buses will also be available to get to and from the event, departing from Murrumbateman.
Youth Against Domestic Violence colour run

Immerse yourself in bright colours and take part in the 2022 Youth Against Domestic Violence colour run this weekend at Riverside Park. This fun day is filled with running, walking and strolling though a five kilometre track and will have a competition for best-dressed with all money raised from tickets to go straight to the Eurobodalla Domestic Violence Committee.

Birdland Animal Park was due to celebrate its 50th anniversary last year but COVID cancelled the celebrations. To start this year off right, Birdland Animal Park is inviting everyone to come together and celebrate everything they have achieved over the past 50 years. There will be raffles, giveaways for animal experiences, complimentary sunscreen and sanitiser, as well as colouring books, an animal scavenger hunt and goodie bags for kids to enjoy.
