Griffith man accused of slashing seven tyres in carpark behind courthouse

A 29-year-old Griffith man has been refused bail after being accused of slashing seven tyres on two cars in the carpark behind Griffith Local Court.

At about 3 am on 21 February, a man was captured on closed circuit television (CCTV) allegedly climbing a wall and entering the rear parking compound at the courthouse, where he allegedly slashed the tyres before exiting the rear parking compound by climbing back over a wall and then leaving the area.

On 24 February, this incident was reported to Griffith Police Station.

Investigations were commenced and at about 4:40 pm later that day, officers attended an address on Binya Street Griffith and arrested a 29-year-old man who was taken to Griffith Police Station and charged with malicious damage, being armed with the intent to commit an indictable offence and entering inclosed lands without a lawful excuse.

The man was refused bail and appeared before Griffith Local Court on 25 February.
