A 30-year-old man has been charged with property-related offences following an alleged break-in at a rural property in the Riverina.
Police said officers attached to the Rural Crime Prevention Team and Riverina Police District commenced an investigation after an unknown person allegedly forced entry onto a property on Hinkler Avenue, Wagga Wagga, sometime between 10:45 am on 29 January and 9:30 am on 2 February, before a rifle and ammunition were allegedly stolen.
Following inquiries, at about 8 am on 7 March, investigators attended a home on Karoom Drive Wagga Wagga and arrested the man.
The accused was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was searched. Police allegedly located cannabis, buprenorphine strips, and a powder substance.
The man was charged with breaking and entering, two counts of possessing a prohibited drug, and threatening injury to a person with intent to prevent lawful detention.
He was refused bail and appeared at Wagga Wagga Local Court on Friday 8 March.
