Boy arrested in Wagga over alleged break and enter in Griffith

A boy has been arrested in Wagga and will face a children’s court today (3 January) charged over an alleged break, enter and steal in Griffith.

At around 12:30 am on Thursday (2 January), Murrumbidgee Police District officers began an investigation into a reported break and enter on a home in Doolan Crescent in Griffith where bikes, a cart, a wallet and a ute were taken.

At around 10 am, the stolen ute was found abandoned on Holbrook Road, Tolland.

Riverina Police District officers seized the vehicle for further examination and, following inquiries, arrested a 13-year-old boy at about 4 pm.

He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with “be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, deal with property proceeds of crime, dishonestly obtaining financial advantage etc by deception, and breach of bail”.

The boy was refused bail to appear in a children’s court today.
