Two men have been charged following investigations into two alleged break and enters in the Riverina.
Police said Riverina Police District officers commenced an investigation following reports of alleged break and enter incidents in West Wyalong and Temora recently.
Officers were called to an address on Grenfell Street, West Wyalong, following reports of an alleged break and enter and were told items worth over $5000 were allegedly stolen at about 3 pm on 20 September.
Police were also called to a church on Victoria Street, Temora, following reports of an alleged break and enter at about midnight on 21 September. Officers were told unknown people allegedly forced entry into the church and stole a number of items before fleeing the scene.
Initial inquiries into the two incidents alleged they were linked.
Following extensive inquiries, at about 3:30 pm on 21 September, Riverina and Murrumbidgee police district officers stopped a black Kia hatchback on Goldfields Way, Barmedman, before they arrested two men, aged 46 and 43.
Police conducted a search and located items believed to be stolen.
They were both taken to Temora Police Station and charged with numerous offences.
The older man was charged with aggravated break and enter/commit serious indictable offence, aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company/steal less than or equal to $60,000.
The younger man was charged with break and enter with intent to commit serious indictable offence, aggravated break and enter/commit serious indictable offence, aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company/steal less than or equal to $60,000 and break and enter house etc steal value less than or equal to $60,000.
The older man was granted conditional bail to appear at Temora Local Court on 23 October.
The younger man was refused bail and appeared at Wagga Wagga Local Court on Sunday (22 September). He was granted conditional bail to appear at Temora Local Court on 23 October.
