Murray River Police District is appealing for information following three suspicious grass fires near Albury.
Police said emergency services were called to a grass fire on the Hume Highway, between Clancy Road and Bowna Road at Thurgoona, about 10 km northeast of Albury last Friday (12 January).
Later that day emergency services were also called to a grass fire just before 5 pm, on William Road, near Tabletop Road, Thurgoona, and found a hectare of grass alight.
The Rural Fire Service responded to both fires, extinguishing the blazes. No structures were damaged in either incident.
Officers attached to Murray River Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.
In a separate incident just before 3:30 pm on Tuesday (16 January), emergency services responded to a grass fire on Wignell Road, near Williams Road, Thurgoona.
The NSW Rural Service responded, putting out the blaze, which burnt bushland. No structures were damaged.
As inquiries continue, police are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage on either incident to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
