In a powerful display of cultural significance and unity, the community of Narrandera came together welcome the newly Indigenous marked highway patrol vehicle with a smoking ceremony.
Officers attached to Narrandera Highway Patrol, Murrumbidgee Police District, Wiradjuri Elder Uncle Mick, students and staff from Narrandera Public School and Narrandera locals gathered at Marie Bashir Park on Tuesday (14 November) to celebrate the new highway patrol vehicle.
Police said the smoking ceremony was a great opportunity to bring together the local Indigenous community, staff and students from Narrandera Public School, Kurrajong Disability Services, Sureway, the Narrandera Community and the NSW Police Force.
Narrandera Highway Patrol thanked all involved in the ceremony and those in attendance.
