Police are hunting for a weapon-wielding trio believed to be behind two violent home invasions in the Snowy Valleys region.
Early on the morning of 30 May 2025, three men armed with a gun and knife allegedly forced their way into the first home on Quandong Ave in Tumut.
One of the invaders allegedly threatened a 39-year-old woman with a gun before striking her to the head, leg and arms.
A NSW Police spokesperson said the woman suffered bruising, but wasn’t transported to hospital.
That night, police were contacted after a man arrived at Tumut Hospital with a laceration to the back of his head and a wound to his calf.
Officers were told three men armed with a gun and knives had forced their way into a second home in Herbert Street, Tumut, before threatening the 40-year-old man, striking him in the head with the gun and stabbing him in the leg.
The trio fled the scene after allegedly stealing keys and a mobile phone.
“Police believe both incidents are linked,” the police spokesperson said.
Police have released CCTV of three men outside one of the homes on 30 May in an attempt to help identify them.
The first man was around 180-185 cm tall with a stocky build and was wearing a dirt bike helmet with a distinctive design on the front. He also had a backpack.
The second man was around 180-185 cm tall with a slim build and was wearing a balaclava, light coloured ‘TNT’ brand joggers, a dark coloured hoodie and gloves.
The third male was around 180-185 cm tall, wearing a puffy yellow hi-vis jacket and face mask.
Police also want to speak to a woman seen driving a Volkswagen Golf in the vicinity of Quandong Avenue, Tumut around the time of the home invasion.
If you can assist police or have CCTV/dashcam/mobile phone footage, you can contact Tumut Police or Crime Stoppers by calling 1800 333 000.
