Police are appealing for information after a senior constable was allegedly assaulted in the Riverina.
Police said two officers responded to reports of an alleged robbery on David Street, Albury, at about 10:35 pm on Saturday 31 August.
While responding, the officers spotted two males walking north along McCauley Street, North Albury.
The officers asked the two males to stop. However, they kept walking, police allege.
When the senior constable approached the males, one male allegedly swung a scooter and hit the officer in the head before the two males allegedly fled.
The senior constable chased the men briefly before stopping due to his injuries. His colleague assisted until the NSW Ambulance arrived.
NSW Ambulance treated the 35-year-old male officer for two wounds to his head, which required stitches. He was taken to Albury Hospital for treatment. He has since returned to work.
Police have released CCTV images and want to speak to the two men pictured, who they believe can assist with their inquiries.
The first male is described as about 175 cm tall, of medium build, with dark facial hair, wearing a black hoodie and denim pants.
The second male is described as about 175 cm tall, of medium build, with an orange beard, grey Nike tech fleece hoodie and black pants.
