Wagga’s very first Thai massage has made the big move to a new home.

After seven years on Baylis Street, Tammy’s Thai Massage (Tammy’s) now boasts a fresh fit-out on Gurwood Street – floors, walls, furniture and all.

Five dedicated massage rooms, one of which can be transformed into a spacious couples massage room, will offer total privacy, as opposed to traditional curtain bays.

Co-owner of Tammy’s, Robert Baliva says the new building will allow staff to curate a more immersive experience for clients.

“Better facilities mean better care. Each room has its own speaker system, which makes the experience easy to personalise,” Robert says.

“It’s the perfect location too – there’s plenty of free parking and we are close to a number of small businesses.

“Tammy’s is now in the perfect place for you to pop in on the way home from work or before picking the kids up from school.”

Massage is associated with healing in a range of traditional cultures, each having tailored the practice to make it their own.

Massage therapy in Thailand has its roots in Buddhism’s introduction to the country more than 2000 years ago. The practice engages sight, sound, smell and touch to create a personalised treatment for the mind, body, and spirit.

Robert says Thai massage is about transporting clients to a place of calm and comfort – a safe space where they can relax and rejuvenate.

“A Thai massage business should feel soothing and welcoming from the moment you walk through the door,” he says.

“Small touches make all the difference, like a cool room with a soft massage bed, subtle smells and gentle music, and no outside distractions.

“Thai massages usually go for at least an hour, giving you time to really relax. We believe mental, physical and spiritual energy are all connected, so we give attention to them all equally.”

Thai massage allows for a high degree of personalisation. In its most traditional form, therapy consists of gentle pressure, deep stretches and assisted yoga positions, and is said to help relieve symptoms ranging from common aches and pains to headaches, fatigue, insomnia and depression.

“We can tailor treatment depending on anyone’s preference,” Robert says.

“We can change the pressure of your massage, lighting, temperature, music and smell, and whether we use oil, reflexology or more stretching and body movements.

“Some people have a particular area they want to focus on and others want a full body massage. We also have add-ons like hot stones, which help circulation and ease stiff muscles, and provide soothing tea or water after your massage.”

Tammy’s has the proud history and experienced staff to suit clients of all ages, nationalities, genders, lifestyles and physical needs.

“Our priority is to make sure every customer feels content and not only happy with the massage, but also the experience that surrounds it,” Robert says.

“If they’re nervous or aren’t sure what type of massage they need, we can explain it to them and give a recommendation. We are wheelchair accessible, provide a private health rebate for remedial massages, and our staff are all fully accredited with years of experience.

“It’s about creating a safe space and a courteous, caring relationship, providing a little slice of paradise that helps clients start their day anew.”

If you would like to experience the healing and relaxation benefits of a traditional Thai massage, visit Tammy’s website, contact the team on 1800 826 697, or drop into their new location at 13 Gurwood Street and say hello.
