Riverina Police District has charged two women over the alleged assault of three other women over the weekend in Adelong.
Officers from Riverina Police District attended a home on Lynch Street on Saturday (20 November) after being notified of the alleged assault.
Police said two women, aged 43 and 32, attended a home where the younger woman allegedly punched a female resident several times.
The situation escalated and five women aged between 24 and 50 became involved in the melee. It’s alleged that one of the residents was threatened with being run over.
Following the incident two women, aged 24 and 25, were taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital for treatment. One subsequently underwent surgery for a laceration on her cheek.
The alleged assailants were arrested at Tumut Police Station at about 1:15 pm that day.
The 32-year-old woman was charged with one count of recklessly causing grievous bodily harm. She was denied bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court today (21 November).
The 42-year-old woman was charged with one count of armed with intent to commit indictable offence, and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. She was also refused bail to appear before Cootamundra Local Court today (21 November).
All five women involved in the altercation are believed to be known to each other.
