Man and woman charged with manslaughter over death of two-year-old boy

Two people have been charged with manslaughter following the death of a two-year-old boy in Griffith last year.

Police said the toddler arrived at Griffith Base Hospital with significant head injuries on 1 December 2023 and was airlifted to Sydney Children’s Hospital but died two days later.

Police established Strike Force Burtundy to investigate the circumstances surrounding the toddler’s death.

On 19 March 2024 police, conducted a line search at a rural property at Binya, approximately 30km north-east of Griffith.

On Wednesday (3 April), police went to a property in the Griffith area and arrested a woman and a man and charged them with manslaughter.

The woman was also charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in relation to the alleged assault of a two-month-old baby in November 2023.

They were both refused bail to appear in Griffith Local Court today (4 March).

Inquiries under Strike Force Burtundy continue.
