Two men have been charged after police seized almost $190,000 in cash during a vehicle stop at Holbrook last week.
Police said Albury Highway Patrol officers stopped a white Toyota HiAce van on the Hume Highway at Holbrook due to its alleged manner of driving about 11:55 pm last Thursday (23 March).
After speaking with the 22-year-old driver, police searched the van and allegedly found more than $189,000 in a shopping bag behind the driver’s seat.
Police arrested the driver and a 33-year-old male passenger and took them to Albury Police Station where they were each charged with one count of recklessly dealing with proceeds of general crime of $100,000 or more.
Both men appeared in Albury Local Court on Friday (24 March), where they were formally refused bail to appear before the same court today (27 March).
The younger man has since been granted conditional bail to appear in the same court on Wednesday, 12 April.
