Two men will face court charged after an alleged malicious damage incident at a home follow by an alleged and hit and run in Wagga.
At about 2:30 am on Friday (21 November), Riverina Police officers were notified after a man and woman allegedly attended a home in Glenfield Park and smashed a window.
It is alleged the man punched the front window of the residence, causing the glass to shatter, before the man and woman left the scene on a motorbike.
The occupant of the home – a 53-year-old man – is alleged to have followed the motorbike in his vehicle towards Fernleigh Road, Ashmont.
Police will allege the driver of the car collided with the bike causing the two occupants to fall.
It is further alleged the driver then reversed before driving forward, running over the bike, and leaving the scene.
Police were called to Fernleigh Street where the two occupants were located.
The rider – a 22-year-old woman – was treated at the scene for critical injuries before being taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital before she was transferred to St George Hospital.
The pillion passenger – an 18-year-old man – sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene before he was arrested and taken to Waaga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with destroying or damaging property and riding a motorbike as a passenger without a helmet.
He was given conditional bail and will appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 28 January 2026.
At about 8.30 am the same day, police attended a home in Glenfield Park and arrested a 53-year-old man.
He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station and charged with negligent driving (occasioning grievous bodily harm), causing bodily harm by misconduct while in charge of motor vehicle, failing to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing grievous bodily harm and not giving particulars to an injured person.
He was refused bail and will appeared before Bail Division Court on Saturday (22 November).
Investigations are continuing.
