Teen charged in Wagga following a fatal crash

A teenager has been arrested at Wagga Wagga Police Station following a fatal crash south of Condobolin earlier this year.

Police said emergency services were called to The Gipps Way near Burcher just after midnight on 24 March following reports of a crash.

Central West Police District officers attended and located a utility that had left the roadway and rolled.

A 17-year-old male passenger died at the scene. The driver, an 18-year-old man, was treated for serious injuries by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.

A crime scene was established while specialist police investigated the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following extensive inquiries by the Crash Investigation Unit, the driver was arrested today (9 October) at Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death, and driving with low-range PCA.

He was given conditional bail to appear before West Wyalong Local Court on Thursday, 21 November.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
