Around 150 golfers will be hitting the greens at Wagga City Golf Club to raise money for Ronald McDonald House this Friday.

The charity day event will help support families who travel for medical purposes by supplying free accommodation.

The event will kick off at 8:30 am and will be stacked with fun activities, including a silent auction for items such as signed 2023 Canberra Raiders and Penrith Panthers jerseys.

Ronald McDonald House Wagga fundraising and marketing manager Kiara Breust said there were still places for teams to sign up for the charity event.

“We have 10 fantastic local businesses lending their support and sponsoring the golf day to help raise much-needed funds for families in need,” she said.

“We’d love to see the community really get behind the event and put a couple of extra teams forward.

“We have over 140 people expected to take part on the day, but can really stretch that number if need be.”

Ms Breust said this was the first year the charity gold event had been run solely by Ronald McDonald House Wagga, as in previous years it had run in partnership with Wagga Takes Two.

“We have decided to go out on our own this year and push for funds to be raised to continue making RMHC [Ronald McDonald House Charities] free for those who need it.

“There is perfect weather forecasted for Friday, so we would love to see as many people as possible on the Wagga City Golf Club greens enjoying a great day for a great cause.

Along with the action on the course, a silent auction will follow the day’s play.

“We have some kitchenware, a drone, Callaway golfing equipment, kids’ toys from Hutcheon and Pearce, and a couple of signed 2023 NRL jerseys all available for auction,” Ms Breust said.

“From the event, we are looking to raise enough funds to provide the Wagga House with a month’s worth of funding to keep it free for the families who need it.

“If people come out and really get behind the day, we are sure we can get more than just that amount.

“We’d love to see as many people out on the course as possible.”
