Search resumes for swimmer believed missing at Wagga Beach

Emergency services have resumed the search for a man who reportedly did not resurface while swimming in the Murrumbidgee River on Tuesday night, 27 December.

The man was allegedly seen to submerge under the water and not resurface at Wagga Beach at about 8.30 pm yesterday.

Officers from Riverina Police District began a search of the water and surrounding area, with assistance from the Volunteer Rescue Association, NSW SES and NSW Ambulance, including the helicopter and swift water rescue, but were unsuccessful.

The search is continuing this morning (Wednesday, 28 December), but police have not received any reports of a missing person.
