Riverina woman charged after scissor stabbing

A woman has appeared in court in Griffith charged over a domestic related stabbing in Yenda yesterday.

At about 2:30 am on Sunday (6 November), emergency services were called to a home on South Avenue, Yenda, northwest of Griffith, after reports a man had been injured.

Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District located a 42-year-old man suffering stab wounds after allegedly being struck in the shoulder, hand, torso and face with a pair of scissors during an altercation with a woman who was known to him.

The injured man was treated by paramedics and taken to Griffith Base Hospital, before being transferred to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital for surgery.

A 30-year-old woman was arrested at the home and taken to Griffith Police Station where she was charged with reckless wounding (DV).

The woman appeared at Griffith Local Court today (Monday 7 November), where she was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court on Wednesday 9 November.
