Riverina teen clocked at 102 km/h in a 50 km/h zone

A teenager has had his licence suspended for six months and been fined after he was caught speeding 52 km/h over the speed limit over the weekend.

Police allege Narrandera Highway Patrol were conducting stationary speed enforcement on Brobenah Road, Leeton, when they detected the 17-year-old male travelling at 102 km/h at about 10:58 pm on Saturday (2 December).

The teen driver, who was the holder of a NSW P1 provisional licence, was driving a grey Toyota along Brobenah Road, which is signposted at 50 km/h.

The driver was stopped a short time later and was issued with an infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45 km/h, fined $2794, and lost six demerit points.

His P1 licence was suspended for a period of six months.
