Riverina man charged with animal cruelty offences

A 20-year-old man is set to face court after being charged over alleged animal cruelty offences in the Riverina.

Murrumbidgee Police District officers started their investigation in April following reports of alleged acts of animal cruelty at Coleambally late last year.

Following inquiries, police arrested the 20-year-old at about 8:55 am yesterday (5 May) at a home on Willin Road, Coleambally.

He was taken to Darlington Point Police Station and charged with recklessly beating, killing animals and torturing, killing, and causing prolonged suffering to animals.

He was given conditional bail to appear before Griffith Local Court on Wednesday, 15 May.
