Who are you and what is your business?

My name is Paulette Catanzariti and my business is called Accessorised by Paulette. I’m originally from Sydney.

My mum has always made jewellery, which is where I had been taught how to do beading and stuff like that. It was always in the back of my mind to come to Griffith and do something similar.

Where did you begin?

I started last year in July and so far it has been received by the public really well. It began because I went looking for a lanyard to wear for work and couldn’t find anything other than the standard boring fabric. I just thought ‘You know what, I can make my own stuff’. That’s where the idea and the concept started.

What do you produce?

I have been doing chains, lanyards and necklaces then branched out into different accessories, like glasses chains that are resin and metal. Then I’ve gone into sterling silver necklaces and stainless steel. Whatever I like, I make.

Where can we buy your products?

At the Griffith Central Market Day, which is on the third Saturday of every month between 9 am and 2 pm. I haven’t yet explored online sales yet, but I am going to commit to the Griffith Central markets for at least the next 12 months – so anyone who wants to see me can come down and see me here.

I’ve also been to the Rotary markets but I prefer these markets (at the mall) because they are indoors.

What’s something you make that would make a good gift?

Anything. It comes down to what an individual person would like. My stainless-steel necklace is popular.

I make things that can bling up your outfit at work. It’s all about accessorising and making you feel a little bit more special when you’re doing your everyday sort of stuff.

Nothing I make costs more than $50.

How would you promote the Riverina?

The community here is great. I love Griffith. I have been here for coming up to eight years. It’s such a fascinating place, the things that are on offer here are impressive. Considering it’s a country town, we have everything you need except for big department stores.

What’s the coolest local thing you’ve ever bought?

Joanne Simpson’s salad dressing. She’s from Leeton.

What’s your favourite coffee spot?

Coco and Bean.
