Police officers have used a baton to smash a car window and arrest a woman accused of dangerously driving along more than 200 km of the Hume Highway.
Multiple calls were made by motorists to Triple Zero on Saturday (22 July) afternoon, reporting a northbound white Mercedes was being driven dangerously along the highway north of Holbrook.
Riverina Highway Patrol officers attempted to intercept the vehicle at South Gundagai, but the driver allegedly failed to stop when directed.
A pursuit began, reaching speeds of up to 170 km/h.
While road spikes were deployed and punctured two tyres, the driver allegedly continued north until the vehicle was stopped by a police roadblock south of Yass.
A 36-year-old woman inside the vehicle was arrested and taken to Yass Hospital for blood and urine samples.
She’s now been charged with driving in a dangerous manner and exceeding the speed limit by over 45 km/h.
She’s been granted conditional bail to appear in Gundagai Local Court on 18 August.
