Police charge Riverina doctor over alleged 2020 sexual assault of female patient

A doctor has been charged with the alleged historical sexual assault of a patient in the Riverina.

Police said in January 2023, a female patient, aged in her 20s, reported a male doctor allegedly sexually assaulted her during an appointment in Leeton in 2020.

Officers attached to Monaro Police District established an investigation and following inquiries, police arrested a 42-year-old man in Leeton yesterday (18 September).

He was taken to Leeton Police Station and charged with aggravated sex assault – victim under the authority of the offender.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Leeton Local Court on Tuesday 15 October.
