Police appeal for information after man found unconscious following alleged assault

A 27-year-old man was airlifted to Canberra recently after he was found unconscious with serious head injuries on a footpath in Wagga Wagga.

Police said emergency services were called to Pinaroo Drive, Glenfield Park, following reports a man was found unconscious on a footpath at about 9:05 pm on 11 April.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene for serious head injuries before he was taken to Canberra Hospital in a critical condition.

The man is believed to have been assaulted with a blunt weapon.

Police were told the 27-year-old had planned to walk from Ashmont to Tolland at about 8 pm.

Riverina Police District officers have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
