The Riverina is offering an array of events for all ages this week.

Keep the kids occupied with watercolour workshops this Friday and prepare for the weekend to be part of Wagga’s first Back To School Party for all.

For those wanting indoor activities over the weekend, look no further than Food I Am for a class on how to prepare and cook seafood, or head down to Griffith for a Paint and Sip session (bookings essential for both).

The most exciting of all the events is the ghost hunt at Old Gundagai Gaol – everyone is welcome to join the proper paranormal investigation and use state-of-the-art equipment to aid you in your search.

Great news for Mad Max lovers: the inaugural A Mad Weekend with Max will be in Narrandera. The event is offering something for all ages. The Festival of Small Halls is back, featuring The Paul McKenna band from Scotland and indie darling Emily Lubitz.

For those looking to savour some fresh Riverina produce, head to the Rotary Sunday Markets in Griffith. The Aussie NightMarkets will be in Wagga on Sunday, offering delicious international food and promising fun times for all.

The Wonders of Watercolour

Cost: Tickets are $55 or two workshops for $100 and can be purchased here

As the end of the school holidays approaches, send the kids to learn how to use watercolours at the Unique State Art Space. The sessions are for nine to 13-year-olds, and parents can use the Creative Kids Voucher for the workshops.

Back To School Party

When: Saturday, 28 January, 5 pm to 9 pm
Where: Chambers Park, 41 Bruce Street, Tolland
Cost: Free entry

Everyone is welcome to Wagga’s first Back To School Party. The afternoon is set to be filled with live music, a free barbecue, giant lawn games and free school supplies.

The alcohol and drug-free event is accessible and inclusive and will feature Gumbaynggirr man Tasman Keith, supported by local bands Frostbite and Gone Fishin.

Seafood – Taste of the Coast – Cooking Class

When: Saturday, 28 January, 10 am to 2 pm
Where: Food I Am, 29 Kunzea Place, Springvale

Food I Am brings the coast and the best seafood to Wagga and offers cooking classes on preparing the finest seafood feast.

This is not to be missed for seafood lovers who want to improve their cooking skills and impress those around them.

A Mad Weekend With Max

When: Saturday, 28 January, 8 am to 10 pm, and Sunday, 29 January, 8 am to 10 pm
Where: Narrandera Showground, Elizabeth Street, Narrandera
Cost: Adult $50, pensioner/youth (16-18) $15, child (5-15) $10, children under 5 free. Tickets can be purchased here

Narrandera is inviting everyone to its inaugural A Mad Weekend With Max – to party the night away with the classic Aussie rock show.

The event will have replica cars from wild dystopian days, and partygoers will have the chance to meet some of the stars, including Cop Boss ‘Fifi Macaffee”. There will be an apocalyptic wastelander cosplay, car and bike show competition and Riverina Light Horse Association display. The event has plenty of activities for children and great street food and a bar for over 18s.

Old Gundagai Gaol Ghost Hunt

When: Saturday, 28 January, 10 pm to 11:55 pm
Where: Gundagai Gaol, U159, Sheridan Street, Gundagai
Cost: Tickets are $71 and can be purchased here

Want the chance to be a real Ghostbuster? Old Gundagai Gaol Ghost Hunt, along with APPI Australian Paranormal Phenomenon Investigators, is inviting everyone to come along to see if you can connect with the spirit world. The three-hour event will be guided by experienced paranormal detectives, who have investigated all over the world.
