Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) is inviting stakeholders and the community to provide feedback on three different draft Health Service Plans.

The draft plans for the Deniliquin, Coolamon and Leeton health services are on public display and provide a roadmap for the provision of services required to meet the community’s present and future needs.

MLHD chief executive Jill Ludford said in a statement that communities had a crucial part in the process of developing such plans.

“Significant stakeholder engagement was undertaken involving consumers, community representatives, key stakeholders and health organisations [for all three health services],” Ms Ludford said.

“The plan has been endorsed by a group of local key stakeholders who have guided its development.”

More than 1600 health services surveys have been completed by the Deniliquin, Coolamon and Leeton communities combined.

Ms Ludford thanked the communities for the positive responses and said consultation sessions and community workshops had been well attended.

She said the main themes that had come out of the stakeholder engagement in Deniliquin included primary care services, transport systems and services, and care planning and coordination.

In Coolamon the topics were hospital bed numbers, medical imaging, and how to access services. In Leeton it was access to community health and primary care services, transport systems and services, and care planning and coordination.

The draft plans will remain on display until 18 November.

They will be available on MLHD’s website, and as paper copies.

For Leeton, residents can visit the Shire Council and Leeton Library; for Coolamon visit Coolamon Shire Council and Coolamon Library; and for Deniliquin see the Council Customer Service and library.

Ms Ludford is encouraging residents of all three communities to provide feedback during the public exhibition period.

She said the feedback would be assessed and incorporated into the plans where feasible and a summary of the feedback received would be included in the plans.
