An alleged pursuit in the Riverina has ended in the arrest of a 24-year-old man following a collision that involved an allegedly stolen Mercedes.
Police said officers attached to Riverina Police District were patrolling The Rock, 30 kilometres southwest of Wagga Wagga when they observed a silver Mercedes, believed to be stolen, travelling north along the Olympic Highway at about 10:10 am on Thursday (29 February).
The officers deployed road spikes at Uranquinty, but a pursuit was initiated when the vehicle allegedly failed to stop.
Police allege the pursuit was terminated shortly after due to safety concerns.
The vehicle was sighted a short time later on the Olympic Highway near Moorong Street, Wagga.
Police allege the Mercedes was seen colliding with another vehicle before the driver of the Mercedes stopped and ran from the scene.
The driver and sole occupant was arrested a short distance away.
He was taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, where he remains under police guard.
