A man will face court charged over an alleged pursuit near Wagga this week.

Just before 11 am yesterday (4 June), police were patrolling Bourke Street, Mount Austin when they attempted to stop the driver of a red Toyota Camry sedan.

When the vehicle allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated by police.

The pursuit allegedly continued through Tolland and Kooringal before it was terminated due to safety concerns.

A short time later, police located the vehicle on the corner of Lake Albert Road and the Sturt Highway.

Police arrested the driver, a 26-year-old man.

He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with seven offences – police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, unlicensed driver, possess prohibited drug (two counts), custody of knife in public place, use unregistered vehicle and not give particulars to other driver.

The man was refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Wednesday 5 June).
