One of Australia’s longest running motorbike charity rides, The Junee Poker Run, is returning this February for its 21st year with hopes of raising $40,000 for Can Assist.

The Junee Poker Run, under the new leadership of its first female president, Jen Parsons, is expecting to gather hundreds of riders at the town’s showgrounds on Sunday 7 February, who will travel more than 250 kms as part of a mystery tour across the Riverina.

The event, which has raised more than $110,000 in the past four years, drew more than 400 participants in 2025, with even more expected to take part this year.

Ms Parsons said the event was one of the biggest on Junee’s calendar and was something she was looking forward to leading for the first time.

“Reaching our 21st year is an incredible milestone and a real credit to the volunteers, riders and supporters who have built this event from the ground up,” Ms Parsons said.

“What started as a simple charity ride has grown into something truly special for Junee and the wider region.

“We’re proud of what the poker run represents and what it continues to achieve. Every kilometre ridden and every dollar raised helps support locals doing it tough, and that’s what continues to drive this event year after year.”

Ms Parsons said local businesses continued to support the event, resulting in strong community backing.

“With the continued dedication of our committee, volunteers and sponsors, we’re confident the 21st poker run will be another strong year of giving back,” she said.

“The blues night is the perfect way to finish the day with great music, great company and a relaxed atmosphere that welcomes the whole community, whether you ride or not.

“With one month to go, we’re encouraging riders, supporters and families to get involved and be part of our 21st birthday celebrations. It’s shaping up to be one of our best years yet.”

Ride coordinator Ben Nell said the route for the ride was set but would remain a mystery until the day of the event.

“The route is locked in, but as always, it’ll stay a mystery until the morning of the ride. That sense of anticipation is all part of the Junee Poker Run experience,” Mr Nell said.

“A lot of planning goes into designing the route each year to make sure it’s enjoyable, safe and suited to a wide range of riders. Our focus is on smooth riding, good stops and a great overall experience.

“One of the great things about the poker run is showcasing parts of the Riverina people might not otherwise visit. We also receive fantastic support from the towns we pass through and from locals who line the roads to watch the convoy roll in. That encouragement really adds to the atmosphere of the day.”

The Junee Poker Run will see hundreds of riders gather at the town’s showgrounds on Sunday 7 February.
