Leeton tobacconist fire treated as suspicious by police

A blaze that burnt down a tobacconist in Leeton is being treated as suspicious by police.

Emergency services were called to the Pine Avenue store after a fire broke out at about 5:50 am on Tuesday (10 February).

Fire and Rescue extinguished the blaze, but not before the store was extensively damaged.

In a statement, NSW Police confirmed a crime scene was established and the fire was being treated as suspicious.

A neighbouring homeware and gift store business, Mr & Dac, was broken into and trashed just days earlier.

“Our beautiful shop next door got broken into and smashed to pieces last week, and now this!” Mr & Dac posted on social media.

NSW Police is also calling for anyone with CCTV footage or knowledge to call Leeton Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
