A Griffith man has been charged over the alleged supply of illicit drugs in the state’s Murrumbidgee region.

Last month, detectives from Murrumbidgee Police District commenced an investigation into the alleged supply of illicit drugs in the Griffith area.

As part of ongoing inquiries, police seized a mail consignment containing a suspicious substance last Thursday (17 November).

During a subsequent deconstruction and forensic examination, the package was allegedly found to contain cocaine, with an estimated street value of $28,000 dollars.

A 63-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Griffith Police Station where he was charged with supplying a prohibited plant and possessing a prohibited drug.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Griffith Local Court on Wednesday 21 December 2022.
