Grab the fishing rod, pump up your mountain bike tyres, fire up the BBQ or have a rumble at the park – whatever you’re doing this Father’s Day, you can make the most of the outdoors with settled weather coming to most of the Riverina.
A high-pressure system over the Bight will extend a ridge over parts of NSW bringing settled and some cloudy conditions to the south and west of the state. However, there is the chance of showers on the coast with a low developing off our shoreline.
Bureau of Meteorology community engagement officer Morgan Pumpa said south-easterly winds mean we’ll still feel a bit of winter chill, though.
“For Father’s Day, the ‘feels like’ temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than the actual temperature, so keep that in mind if you’re heading out for breakfast,” she said.
“It may be more of a morning to stay and have breakfast in bed.”
As the sun continues to shine, our UV index is also increasing, with some protection measures recommended when the index is above 3.
For Father’s Day, some regions could see a UV index of 4 or 5.
“If you’re heading out with the change of seasons … just remember, you can still get burnt on cool and cloudy days. It’s not about the heat,” Ms Pumpa said.
