Five men have been charged following an investigation into alleged street racing in the Wagga Wagga area.
Officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol command commenced an investigation on Tuesday (28 October), following reports of alleged organised street races and dangerous driving.
As part of inquiries, police spoke to six men, aged 19, 20, 22, 23, and two aged 24.
To date, five men – aged 19, 20, 23 and two 24-year-olds – have been issued field court attendance notices.
Those five men have been charged with organising and promoting a race between vehicles. The 20-year-old man was charged with two counts of the same offence.
The younger man was also charged with being a responsible person/custodian not disclosing a driver’s details.
All five are due to face Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 3 December.
Police seized the registration plates of three vehicles, while the licences of the five men were suspended.
Police will allege in court the vehicles taking part in the street races travelled at speeds up to 180 km/h in a sign-posted 100 km/h zone and 120 km/h in sign-posted 60 km/h zones.
Investigations are ongoing.
