A police officer has been charged following an investigation into alleged fraudulent insurance claims.

NSW Police established Strike Force Merthyr last year (April) after two vehicles were destroyed by fire in the Murray River region.

Following inquiries, a 34-year-old male constable attached to a command in the Southern Region was arrested in Sydney on Monday (22 January) and charged with dishonestly destroying property by fire/explosive for gain, attempting to dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception, acting with intent to pervert the course of justice and possessing bestiality material.
