2023 was a huge year for the Wagga Wagga Civic Theatre with countless sold-out productions and events, including the popular Bidgee Theatre production of Mamma Mia, The Wagga Wagga Comedy Festival and the theatre’s 60th birthday.

Despite a jam-packed year full of wonderful and memorable moments, Wagga Wagga City Council Theatre Manager Claire Harris and the team at the Civic Theatre believe 2024 will be even bigger as the theatre prepares for the 2024 season launch on 5 December.

“It’s important that we celebrate the joy that live entertainment brings to our city,” Ms Harris said.

“We wanted to build a month-long social campaign leading up to Tuesday (5 December) showcasing all of the businesses, partners, customers and staff that make up the Civic Theatre.

“The theatre really is a place for everybody and the heartbeat of our vibrant city. This social campaign helps us to have fun with that.”

The #HeartbeatOfTheCity campaign hopes to break down some stereotypes about who visits the theatre and showcase the diversity of people who enjoy the space daily.

“We don’t underestimate the importance of social and cultural connection for our community,” Ms Harris said.

“Breaking down the barriers and encouraging new people to experience the theatre, feel welcomed to our space and celebrate live experiences is important to me and the team here at the theatre.

“The theatre is more than just a show on stage. It’s a night out with friends, a date night, a first experience on stage, a workshop, a workplace and for some, the social outing they have been looking forward to all month.”

The launch will feature three performances in the main theatre, special guests calling in via Zoom and the opportunity for theatregoers to sign up for a 2024 membership.

“We invite anyone who would like to be ahead of the wave to come along to our launch event on Tuesday 5 December. Be the first to hear what we have in store for next year, learn about our new membership offer and take advantage of exclusive presale opportunities,” Ms Harris said.

“The new membership program is for people who may not be ready to sign up for a subscription but still come to the theatre and want to engage with us in fun ways.”

Those looking to attend the 2024 season launch can do so by calling the Civic Theatre Box Office on 6926 9688 or by clicking heading to the Civic Theatre website.
