The Sturt Highway east of Hay remains closed following a horror crash that left two dead yesterday evening.
Police said emergency services were called to the Sturt Highway, Hay, following reports a sedan and a truck had collided at about 5:10 pm yesterday (15 January).
The 71-year-old male driver of the sedan, and a female who was riding in the front passenger and is yet to be identified, were treated but died at the scene.
A male passenger in the sedan was airlifted to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious condition.
Another passenger, a 23-year-old woman, was taken to Hay Hospital with serious injuries.
The 27-year-old male driver of the truck was treated for minor injuries before being taken to Griffith Hospital for mandatory testing.

The highway remained closed at 9:10 am on Tuesday (16 January) in both directions near Old Common Road.
Diversions are in place via the Cobb Highway, Mid Western Highway, Murrumbidgee River Road and Carrathool Road.
Police are also appealing for information following a fatal crash on Redfern Street, Cowra, following a collision between a Holden Commodore station wagon and a Nissan Pathfinder SUV at about 2:50 pm yesterday (15 January).
The 77-year-old driver of the station wagon died at the scene, while the 56-year-old driver of the SUV was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police are urging anyone with dashcam footage or information about the crash to contact Crime Stoppers.
