Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) residents can look forward to some great activities over the next few weeks.

CGRC said the streets of Cootamundra and Gundagai were coming alive with Christmas decorations, messages of goodwill, and celebrations adorning the local shop windows.

“Residents and business owners have been encouraged to light up their houses and businesses for the festive season and enter the Sparkling Streets Christmas Lights competition where great prizes are on offer for the most decorative display,” CGRC said in a statement.

“It will be all fun and festivity at the Starry Nights Christmas festivals in Gundagai on 13 December and Cootamundra on 19 December.

“It will be a night of supporting local business, catching up with friends and family, enjoying captivating entertainment and children’s rides. These festivals strengthen community connection and spirit.”

Residents are reminded that the Parker Street Christmas tree has undergone a restoration and is shining brightly, bringing joy to all thanks to a community-minded couple who undertook the restoration.

Both centres’ parks and gardens teams have embraced the Christmas season and have the streets looking immaculate with colourful displays of perennial plants in festive colours. The recent rains have brought parks and ovals to life with the lawns and fields lush and green.

Nominations and more information can be found on the Cootamundra Gundagai Regional Council website.
