Alleged armed robbery in Ashmont under investigation

Officers from Riverina Police District have commenced an investigation into an alleged armed robbery at Ashmont Post Office and Newsagency.

A NSW Police spokesperson said police were told that just before 7 am today (13 April) a male entered a post office on Tobruk Street and allegedly threatened a worker with a firearm before fleeing with cash.

The male worker was uninjured and notified police.

Riverina Police have established a crime scene which will be examined by specialist forensic police.

As inquiries continue under Strike Force Burdon, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist with the investigation.

He was last seen wearing dark clothing and a face mask and was carrying a backpack.
