Truck driver reported missing near Narrandera found alive and well the following day

Police found the driver the day after he was missing: Shri Gayathirie Rajen.

A truck driver who was reported missing just south of Narrandera on Thursday (6 March) was found alive and well today (7 March).

Murrumbidgee Police District, the State Emergency Service and Volunteer Rescue Association commenced a search of bushland off the Newell Highway, Morundah for a 50-year-old man at 9 am Thursday morning.

Inquiries have established that he may have suffered a medical episode and walked into bushland at about 4 am after stopping the truck he was driving along the side of the road.

At about 8 am Friday (7 March), the search recommenced. An hour later, the driver was located safe and well a short distance from where he was last sighted.

NSW ambulance transported him to Narranderra Hospital as a precaution. The truck driver had gone missing in concerning circumstances after he radioed to his manager to say he was helping someone, despite the fact no breakdowns had been reported in the area.

Police officers arrived at the scene to find the air conditioning running, keys in the ignition and tools left on a step, but he was nowhere to be seen.
