A man has been charged following a fatal boating incident in the Murray River last year.
Police said emergency services were called to Moama after a man was injured after falling into the Murray River at about 7:25 pm on 23 November 2024.
When Murray River Police District officers arrived at the scene they were told the man had allegedly fallen from a boat after the vessel suddenly stopped when a water skier it was towing fell in the water.
The 51-year-old man was brought ashore and treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, he died at the scene.
The water skier was not injured.
Following inquiries, a 52-year-old man was issued with a future court attendance notice for the offence of culpably navigating under the influence – causing death by impact.
The man is due to appear at Deniliquin Local Court on 16 April.
